An opportunity has arisen to join the wider South Uist Estate team to contribute to the exciting course development at Askernish.
As Deputy Course Manager you will maintain the golf course as directed by the Course Manager, in accordance with the Club’s Golf Course Maintenance Policy and its Health and Safety Policy, to ensure the course is maintained to the highest standard using traditional and sustainable greenkeeping practices.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Cut tees, greens, surrounds, fairways, rough and semi rough.
Set up the golf course, including changing holes, moving tee markers, indicating GUR, Drop zones and hazards.
Switch and brush greens
Apply top dressing and fertilizer
Aerate greens, approaches and tees
Identify and control pests and diseases
Renovate worn and damaged turf
Prepare and maintain machinery
Assist Course Manager to implement golf course policy.
Assist Course manager in supervising work programs.
Line manage junior staff.
Communicate with staff, golfers, the media and the general public.
Deputise in absence of Course Manager.
Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required
2 Years on course experience.
SVQ/NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf.
Full UK Drivers Licence.
Highly Motivated.
Ability to work as part of a team or alone.
Passion for traditional Greenkeeping practices.
Good communication skills.
Desirables Experience/Knowledge/Skills
PA1, PA2 & PA6 spraying qualifications.
